James Moran Memorial
Wednesday, 15 March 2023

James Moran was an Old Savilian of the highest order. Awarded the prestigious Wolfson Scholarship, his academic, artistic, and sporting abilities stood him apart from his peers. Despite his many accolades, above all, it was the strength of his character that shone through. Many of his contemporaries simply remember a kind-hearted friend, but the type of friend you look up to for the rest of your life.

Old Savilians from the 1999 leaver's year have organised a memorial event, to honour James' memory, at the 25 year mark, which will take place on Saturday 4th November 2023.

A service will be held at St. Austin's church on Wentworth Terrace at 11am, followed by a short walk to the playing fields, where a wreath will be laid at 12:30. Afterwards, refreshments will be served in the Pavilion, with the opportunity to discover routes for creating a Moran Bursary, following requests from several Old Savilians interested in leaving a legacy for James. Drinks will be taken from 3pm at The College pub, and later on, in Wakefield. The dress code is casual.

If you remember James Moran, please make every effort to attend this day.
